The Cost of Israel to the US

By Grant Smith, IRMEP – Hank Greenspun was a convicted felon who, according to his FBI file, in the late forties stole .50 calibre machine guns from the US Navy and violated Arms Export control laws in order to arm the terrorist Irgun gang.

Hank Greenspun with Ben-GurionGreenspun tried, but failed, to bribe federal officials with $25,000 into dropping smuggling charges against him. In the end he paid only $10,000 in fines and served no jail time.

Greenpun then parlayed huge smugglng profits into a Las Vegas media empire.

Greenspun was "bad news," said Dan Moldea, author of The Hoffa Wars and other groundbreaking works on organized crime. "Hank Greenspun was a journalistic nihilist who used his First Amendment protections to reward his friends and to punish his enemies, as well as to promote his personal causes and to accept money from nefarious individuals," Moldea told SpyTalk.

In 2006, Greenspun's wife gave the Newseum $7 million, which named a terrace on Pennsylvania Avenue after him.

The Staggering Cost of Israel to Americans

Written by

If Americans Knew - Israel has a population of approximately 7.7 million, or a million fewer than the state of New Jersey. It is among the world's most affluent nations, with a per capita income similar to that of the European Union.[1] Israel's unemployment rate of 6.3% is much better than America's 8.2%,[2] and Israel's net trade, earnings, and payments is ranked 146th in the world while the US sits at a dismal 193rd.[3]

Israel National News - The planned U.S. budget for the coming year, which was announced by President Barack Obama on Wednesday, maintains and even increases the American defense aid to Israel, Channel 10 News reported.

According to the numbers published, the United States will provide Israel with $3.4 billion in defense aid, a record number, according to Channel 10.

The President, on his trip to Israel, presented Netanyahu with a new ten-year aid "package" totaling some $40 billion – a $10 billion increase over the last such agreement.

AntiWar.com - Given the kind of society we have become – a country of whining spoiled brats who have been living above our means for years – every special interest group is up in arms over the alleged tragedy known as Sequestration. While these automatic across-the-board spending cuts are portrayed as nothing less than draconian by various lobbyists and their congressional sock puppets, in reality these are not even real cuts as you and I understand them, but merely cuts in projected spending increases. Like the temperature in Hell, the imperative in Washington is that spending must always increase: "austerity" means the tempo has momentarily slackened.

Defense Update - Israel’s top three defense industries have reported about their financial performance in 2012 in the past week. Elbit Systems, RAFAEL and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) all performed well last year. Elbit gained momentum with record revenues of US$2.88 billion and net income of 168 million; operating profit also improved, compared to 2011.

Freedom Rider: The US/Israel Axis of Evil

If anyone can get away with making Israeli fantasies of regional domination come true, it is Obama.

Black Agenda Report - President Barack Obama's visit to Israel signals nothing but bad news for the Palestinian people and probably the people of the rest of the world too. Every American president who has served since Israel's founding has put chosen Israeli interests over those of their own people.

WASHINGTON, Feb 23 2013 (IPS) – In a potential new source of contention between President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel has reportedly granted a U.S. energy firm with heavyweight political connections to explore for oil and gas in the occupied Golan Heights.

The company is a local subsidiary of New Jersey-based Genie Energy Ltd. The Strategic Advisory Board of another subsidiary, Genie Oil and Gas, includes former Vice President Dick Cheney, media magnate Rupert Murdoch, and former Republican Rep. Jim Courter.

It also includes several prominent investment managers, such as Jacob Rothschild, chairman of the J. Rothschild group, and Michael Steinhardt, a major contributor to Jewish and Zionist causes, notably Birthright Israel, a multi-million-dollar programme to bring young Diaspora Jews to Israel.

By their own admission, the Israeli government says it’s occupied territory. So why would they invest millions of dollars in occupied territory?

Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, December 1998 - The "opposite test" developed at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad in the 1960s. That concept helps describe the near total protection afforded Israel in the U.S. media today.

True Lies About U.S. Aid to Israel

Written by

Washington Report - For many years the American media said that "Israel receives $1.8 billion in military aid" or that "Israel receives $1.2 billion in economic aid." Both statements were true, but since they were never combined to give us the complete total of annual U.S. aid to Israel, they also were lies—true lies.
