Book: Hollywood producer was Mossad agent

Written by

New biography outs Israeli producer Arnon Milchan as man who purchased components for Israel's nuclear arsenal

YNet - Could one of Hollywood's greatest Israeli producers have been a Mossad agent? In a new biography called "Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon Arnon Milchan," authors Meir Doron and Joseph Gelman claim that the producer took part in secret Mossad operations.

Electronic Intifada - On 18 April, three days after a bombing killed three and left many more wounded at the Boston marathon, a figure unknown to most Americans stepped suddenly into the national spotlight. At a nationally broadcast interfaith service addressed by President Barack Obama, a Mauritanian-born social media activist named Nasser Weddady appeared on stage as the designated representative of Boston’s Muslim community. Introduced as the chairman of the New England Interfaith Council and the civil rights outreach director for the American Islamic Congress (AIC), Weddady delivered a well-received sermon referencing Jewish and Islamic scripture on non-violence.

AntiWar.com - Fifty years ago this May, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee opened a series of unprecedented hearings investigating the clandestine activities of foreign agents active in the United States. The investigation focused most intensively on the operatives and financing of key Israel lobbying organizations such as the American Zionist Council, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and the American Section of the quasi-governmental Jerusalem-based Jewish Agency. Thanks to a secret memo only declassified in 2010, the public may now know what fears motivated the hearings.

Stephen Hawking joins academic boycott of Israel

Written by

The Guardian - Professor Stephen Hawking is backing the academic boycott of Israel by pulling out of a conference hosted by Israeli president Shimon Peres in Jerusalem as a protest at Israel's treatment of Palestinians.

A bill introduced by the California Democrat would uniquely exempt Israel from long-standing requirements imposed on all other nations

Mondoweiss - The Real News Network episode "Shutting Down Critique of Israel on Campus" interviews Michael Ratner, President Emeritus of the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR). Ratner provides an overview of how Title 6 is used through the Department of Education to shut down critics of Israel and Zionism, then explains how Israel's supporters have turned the situation "upside down" for Israel's critics, suppressing free speech rights.

"The administration has already used its discretion to minimize the cuts to Israel forced by sequestration to $155 million, nearly $100 less than the initial estimated cut. But even this reduced cut has alarmed pro-Israel supporters... thousands of AIPAC delegates made their way to Capitol Hill for lobbying meetings with their Senate and House representatives urging lawmakers to repeal the cut..."

Forward, Nathan Guttman – In an effort to save aid to Israel from mandatory, across-the-board cuts now being imposed on all discretionary federal programs, pro-Israel activists are opening the door on a dramatic course of action they have rejected repeatedly in the past.

A Deconstruction of S.RES 65

Written by

Introduction:

The article that follows is a point by point commentary on S. RES 65, an initiative put forth by AIPAC which has already garnered more than 40 co-sponsors in the US Senate. The resolution is not just a show of force by AIPAC; it also makes a US war with Iran (at a time and place of Israel’s choosing) much more likely. A show of legislative support like this, even if it does not ostensibly commit the US to war with Iran, certainly makes such a commitment in the future much more likely.

MJ Rosenberg – Douglas Bloomfield, who served as AIPAC’s chief lobbyist for more than a decade, reports this week that the lobby intends to insist that the United States not include Israel’s $3 billion grants package in the sequester that goes into effect today. Writing in the New York Jewish Week, Bloomfield says:
